Mechanical Noise

Typical HVAC Air Handling Unit
In all buildings, there exists some level of mechanical systems used for Plumbing, Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). Problems can arise if these systems emit too much noise into an environment occupied by people. ACI personnel have a great deal of experience with these mechanical systems in all facets from design, up to commissioning and operation.
Measurement and assessment of problem areas relating to HVAC is a specialty of ACI. By making use of data collected by sound level meters, Noise Criteria (NC) and Room Criteria (RC) curves can be obtained and the "quality" of the noise problem can be evaluated.
ACI can provide recommendations and specifications for control of noise and vibration to acceptable limits for both new, and existing installations. With the aid of the Trane Acoustics Program, ACI staff can evaluate and design acoustical properties of HVAC systems to meet any noise design criteria
